Paint Your Own Buddha

Learn all the skills needed to paint your own Buddha statue on this special series of weekend courses.   You will learn both modern and traditional techniques utilizing gold leaf,  gold powder, jewels and mica powders to make your Buddha statue beautiful and qualified.  Each weekend you will be given practical advice and training along with the tools necessery to take your new skills home and practice your new spiritual artform.

Weekend 1, 23rd-25th July

This weekend we will start with preparing the statue for painting and gilding.  We will begin by learning how to make our statue a perfect canvas ready for painting, by means of sculpting and filler spray paints. We will then learn and practice the application of gold leaf and powdered gold.

During this weekend we will also learn how to draw the Buddha’s face on paper using the traditional grid method. (something we can be doing while we wait for our paint and glue to dry!)

We can then take all these skills home and practice our Buddha faces so that we have some familiarity for the second weekend course.  There is also the option to improve remotely before the next weekend by sending in photos/scans of your practice, to gain feedback so you can improve your skills.
